Smile Shopping list for a new guy?

Hi all, I have a 94 Landrover Discovery and I'd like to install a pc into it. I'm pretty good at making things but i have no idea about the technical specs and such that i need, or what my best options are,

I was thinking of a dash pod sat on top of my standard dash as the standard din slot is useless just infront of the gear levers. I'm ok with the fabrication work as i've done quite a few stereo / ICE installs.

I want to use the system for GPS navigation and off road route tracking, as well as media use whilst traveling and camping out in the vehicle. Some basic office software would be usefull for quotes and business related tasks, smartphone integration, and internet access for email and surfing would be great too.

So any ideas on what to get and whats compatible, which software and where to buy i know its a big ask but i'm new and very keen to get started and i promise a good write up with lots of pics

Have you checked out the FAQ Emporium yet. They have almost everything you would ever want to know on them. Also, troll the "show off your ride" section and you can see what has worked for other people.

"Hi, I'm new, but really like this idea, so please tell me what to buy."

    Uhhhhhhh. No.

If you don't know what to purchase, then look into one of the online sellers that provide "fully loaded" vehicle PC systems with all the hardware you need for all the functionality you want.
If you want to build a system from the ground up, then spec out a PC and bounce it off the membership here and we'll give you pros & cons into the hardware you're considering.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
