A ground loop isolator should work fine. I used one for a long time with no signal problems. You could try cutting the ground wire on your power adapter close to the cig plug. Then ground that end directly to the frame.
Hi. I think this picture will help explain my situation:
I think I'm getting the ground loop problem (99% sure). When everything is connected like above I get no sound and just a weird cyclic noise. However if I disconnect the power adapter from the mp3 player it's all good. One more thing I noticed is if everything is connected like above and I partially plug the headphone jack into the mp3 player (e.g. left or right channel only) it works but when I fully connect it, it does the weird noise.
So I've been doing my research on it and the bandage solution is to buy a ground loop isolator but I've heard they can degrade the signal so I'd rather fix the problem more directly. I know a little bit about electronics like positive, negative, ac, dc, circuit, resistance, etc. I read somewhere that I need to ground the mp3 player to the car frame. How do I do that?![]()
