Hi All,

I have just started reading over the last few days. It is quite a load to take in, I am not so green with Pc's, Linux etc,, I have LMCE running quite well in my home with a core/hybrid and a few MD's as well as xbmc Live for HD playback.

I am totally new to the car pc game as I stated but would like to move forward after spending a few days looking into car audio and what is out there I think I would rather do something else.

So! what I am looking for is a pc to playback DD/DTS in 5.1 or 7.1 surround ofcourse with Music as well. I know there are few pc s/c doing this but possible not in a USB format. The ability to playback FLAC files as all my music on my Unraid server in my house are FLAC. The ability to playback .mkv and .ts at 1280x720p at least in a 7" touch screen.

The Truck is a Silverado SS with a std BOSE system with On-star. Not subscribed. I would like to use most of this system with the carpc install if at all possible.

The nice thing is room. I have a double din head unit and then in front of the drink holder in the center console just below the heating controls I have room for a single din device as well.

I take it cover arts (album, Movie etc. is all std) with whichever software I choose.

I want to USE Linux as a base OS 804 or 810 etc.. more than M$. I am really into testing the Asus EEEbox as I think this would be the perfect little single 1/2 din device and then a slot load DVD bracket to sit on top of it would load perfectly into my single din slot in the console. The EEEbox has a ext Wall Wart for pwr so adapting a dc-dc psu should not be an issue but if someone has directions for this it would be appreciated.
