I don't know where you live, but here in Europe I would suggest a USB-3G modem like this http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/p...view.do?id=282 and a mobile-internet data-plan with your mobile provider. If 3G isn't used in the US or where you live, I'm sure there is a similar protocol available.

You could also accomplish this if your carpc would have bluetooth, and you have a mobile Phone that supports 3g (Or The Local Alternative) and that can act as a bluetooth Modem. (My Sony Ericsson P1i can do that, and that isn't the most recent mobile.)

Don't you think that a Verizon rep would be a good person to ask?

Typically, unlimited data plans are in the $40-50/month range, not including any hardware. Most providers also have data plans for lower amounts of data transfer, with hefty overage charges if you use more than your allotment.

If your phone has internet capability, then it would probably be a matter of adding a data plan to your service and figuring out how to tether the PC.

I can speak from experience, having used AT&T/Cingular's data plan that it works quite well when you're in range of a signal. I tethered my Treo via bluetooth and used the data plan to keep my daughter entertained by surfing some of her favorite websites (barbie.com, disney.com, nick.com) while on a road trip across West Texas where there is absolutely nothing of interest along the way.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Yea 50 or more bucks per month is a lot to spend to just rarely use it on a Carpc. I have an iPhone which I'm gonna play with to get Internet to my Carpc.

I have at&t and was thinking about getting a new phone that has the unlimited data plan. Can I just use that with my carputer to get online? They (at&t told me that I had to get there internet plan If Im using a labtop or carputer to get online. They said that they block it some way that the sales rep had a hard time explaining. I rather spend $30 a month the unlimited data on the phone, instead of $60 for the internet service plan.
