    Will this work?

Ok, so I know this isn't the traditional way of setting up a carpc, but here is what I want to do. I want to purchase an in-dash DVD head unit so that I can control DVD's, radio, and XM from the front of the car, and then I want to eventually build a carputer to connect to the audio/video inputs of the DVD unit. I know that I won't be able to use touchscreen functionality with the carputer part doing it this way, but are there going to be any other limitations? Will it even work?

Right now I am trying to decide between two units. The Sony XAV-W1 which has great resolution on the screen, but no bluetooth, or the Clarion MAX685BT that has bluetooth, but not as good on the resolution side.

Any thoughts on doing this? I'll eventually want to replace the head unit and go full touch screen, but I want to go with a bit simpler system to start.

It will work as long as you can get the PC to output composite video.
The image quality from the PC will be sub-par, at the very best.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
