kenwood touchscreen for the carpc with linux

hi, i have started to build a carpc for myself. currently i am in the parts gathering stage. This is the list which i have finalised:

    1) D945GCLF2 with 2 GB ram
    2) 250 gb SATA hdd
    3) m4atx (in the shipment currently)
    4) Custom made chasis (looking for some other alternate as well)
    5) Customised linux (Fedora 10 with some frontend or LinuxICE). I am opting for linux as the syncing the data part is pretty easy with some scripts. i will appreciate if someone can also help me with this
    6) I am also planning to do some fabrication for the screen as the car i have is a single din and the screen wont fit without some fabrication.

I would like to know if the kenwood touchscreen LZ7500 is compatible for my setup. Would i be able to find drivers for it for linux?

    thanks and regards
    Tushar

The Kenwood unit can work as a monitor only, as long as you can get a composite video signal to the unit.
You will not have touchscreen control of the PC without major modification.
Also, you will have to run the PC at low resolutions and the image will be mediocre at best.

    Compatible? Yes.
    Ideal? Far from it.

Ideally, you would want a screen that has VGA input, which is a native video signal from a PC. There is not a Kenwood model that has a VGA input that I am ware of. I don't think any of the major car audio companies really want you using their products as a PC monitor, since it reduces their potential revenue.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
