I was curious as well about running power for the carputer, does it just run off the current electrical system or do I have to put another battery in and some other things to power it?
I want to put a carpc in my Ranger. It's a stock cab and a regular bed, with a canopy.
I already got some parts from old computer I thought would work I just got to figure out someplace to place it in my truck and what monitor to use and I got two more speakers to place in my truck. If anyone has any additional ideas or plans to do it I'd appreciate it.
I'm trying to get a list of parts to use for it, I'm not sure if I should use one of the spare atx boards and cpu's I have or get some new stuff to build one out of. I figured out the best solution for me to place it id to take out my bench seat and place a center console between the new bucket seats and place the computer in there. The screen I would like to place in where my stereo currently is and have it pop out of the dash when my truck is on but fold back in and look like a regular not impressive stereo.
Any one think that's possible to do all of this?
If i may ask why not mount it behind the seat unless you just want to take out the bench seat
as far as the screen goes, i have the same goal as you buy im willing to do it manually. im just going to mount my screen on sliding/folding tracks. my regular radio will always work and be visable as normal, but when i go to use my pc i will pull on lip and slide out the screen, and fold it down to the position i want (underneath the radio). this way i can still use the pc and radio at the same time, and the screen slides away to make it look like a normal radio and thats it.
