    New carpc equipment questions

Putting together 1st carpc based on Voompc stage 2. looking for these features and have following questions. Appreciate and help/advice I can get

    Here is proposed system
700tsv 7” screen – I assume it can be mounted in dash

    XM 1000 package+ USB adapter
    BU-353 GPS receiver
    USBBT100 Bluetooth adapter
    Memory expansion to 1GB
    Panasonic uj-875
USB SA Andrea external usb sound card and microphone

1)****** Am I missing anything – power cables etc. It will be installed by professional installer
2)****** Will the XM 1000 work with the voompc. XM products says it needs line it. I cannot see that on voompc and no text that states line-in. DO you carry anything that will
3)****** Do you have 1GB memory DIMM for the intel board. It looks lit it can take one DIMM from mini-box photo. You only seem to carry 512mb DIMM = PC2-4200
4)****** High quality phone calls are really really important. Will these options work well?

5 Need very good microphone that’s clear and sits on wire at front of car. Any recommendations. Will software on computer mute music if a call comes in?
6 GPS with text to voice. Does this work well in roadrunner or streetdeck?
7 Simple software user interface that supports Bluetooth phone music files - wav,mp3, GPS map with voice I have an Audi S8 2003 and would like the unit to fit professionally in the car. (orange/red LED scheme)
8 I plan on putting the DVD drive at the front of the car and the computer in the trunk.
9 From what I read in forums etc, I assume windows XP system will work well about 75% of the time. Is Linux based system more reliable and if so, what car pc user interface software would work with that?
10 I will add both FM radio/HD radio and XM radio any issues here?
11 Do I need to protect the hard drive from all the road bounce?

a lot of questions - Thanks for answers

I assume you are taking about the Stage 2 Here

The 700tsv can be mounted in the dash. That is all up to an installer about how creative they want to be and how much of a budget you give them to work with

Cables - The stage comes with power, ground, ignition, and amp control wires.

You only need one gps. get the bu-353. You don't need a battery and it always works. Save the bluetooth hassles for a phone later.

XM - Almost all motherboards including the stage 2 have line in.

Bluetooth in the car is a bit of a black art. You are going to want to buy a good microphone and schedule some time to get this working. The only app that support bluetooth seamlessly through a carPC is centrafuse.

Even with an installer you are going to want to block off one to two full weekends to get all the features working prefectly. If you are a technical superman, you will need less time.

You can put 2gb of DDRII in the stage 2.

The rest of the questions can be answered by reading more on the forums and the FAQ sections.
