USED Custom Car Computer from mp3car

Do you have any info on this product? Please send me something eg. wiring. It has a 4-Pin Power Connector (I have no idea what this would be used for, but it could be an extra) and 5 wires exiting the housing. Out of the 5, 2 are black (one thin that looks like a remote wire and one thick that looks like a ground), 1 thick is red which I assume is power, 1 is a thick white wire and the last 1 is a thin red wire. This is what was written.

Yet another great price on a great used system, and it is definitely custom. Utilizing a Morex 5677 and an Intel little valley board, we have concocted an excellent mobile computer. Sure the case has seen better days (it has some scratches); rest assured that the internals have yet to face a challenge they could not handle. You might ask, what are all those wires hanging out? Well simply put, that's how this little guy expresses himself. 2 installed supersize packs allow a total of 6 usb devices to be hooked into this machine at once. External power leads allows for regulated 5v and 12v. Also, external wires to remotely turn on your amplifier. We would hate to retire this guy prematurely, soo we would like to give him a good home. Give an old guy a second chance. Components are as follows:

Morex 5677 Case
512 Memory
100 gig HD
Intel Little Valley Y2
M2 atx w/ custom wiring

the 4-pin molex connector would be for powering external components (monitor, USB hub, HDD, etc). as long as they retained the standard ATX wire colors; yellow= regulated +12v, red= regulated +5v, and the two black wires are ground.

judging by the last pic, the other 5 wires look like they are plugged into:
J1 - thick RED= 12v constant power (car battery)
J3 - thick WHITE= switched 12v power (ignition switched)
J4 - thick BLACK= ground
J6 - thin RED looks like it's the delayed AMP turn on wire, and I'm not sure what the thin BLACK wire goes to (maybe the ground pin on the J6 header?).

DON'T ASSUME that the wire colors are standard. the previous owner could have wired it different from what the pics show. before you hook anything up, you need to open up the case see where each wire is connected to. you can view/download the M2-ATX user manual here. page 2 shows power inputs and where each wire should go.

I built this system a long time ago and here is what I can confirm:

thick RED= 12v constant power (car battery)
thick WHITE= switched 12v power (ignition switched)
thick BLACK= ground
4-pin molex connector would be for powering external components

The rest of it my memory is foggy on. Check the m2-atx power supply manual.

You guys helped out a lot. Thanks. I hope someone can help by confirming the two small thin wires are. I think that the black one is a reset for the computer.

only you can confirm where those wires go. as I stated in post#2, you need to open the case up and see where the wires are physically connected.

the M2-ATX manual clearly states what each header is for. once you trace the wire back to the specific header you can look in the manual to see what it does.

again, you can view/download the M2-ATX user manual here, page 2 shows and explains where/what each header is for.

I understand why you keep talking abut the power supply. I didn't take good enough pictures. The three thicker wires come off the power supply (white, black and red) and thanks you for the diagram of those. The thinner wires don't and I will post a better picture of them later. Sorry about the confusion.

You are right. The wires do attach to the ATX Power Supply.

Do you think that the red and black wires are for the reset? The reset that I have from an old computer has a red and black wire. Can someone verify this? On the diagram it looks like an amp. Why would you use a amp?

Do I have to hook the white wire up to the ignition or can I use the Amp remote wire from my speakers?

I bought a VGA SVGA to RCA S-Video AV TV Adapter Converter Cable N so I can hook my monitor up with RCA jacks. Do you see any problems with that?
