2001 Tacoma just starting install tons of questions

What screen? I thought about a 8 o 9. I ordered a new bezel on eBay to hack up. What is the best for around 2 bills.
I have an old dell with a celeron. Will that cut It? Is it too big. What kind do people recommend?
What kinds of power supply is bestbfor this application. Is an inverter clean or am I going to get noise.
I have looked at a few tacomas that have been done but how do u secure the screen and is it hard to relocate the ac controls.

    Oh, man.
Tell me you meant 2 Gs and not $200.

I meant 200 for the screen but for everything it would be nice to stay under a g. I have an msi wind I'm probably going to use with an inverter for now til I become an Ee and make thousands(supposedly). I know xenarc is out of my price range. How are the lilliputs fir an 8" or 10"?

I'm not too sure how big your dash is but I would say the bigger the screen the better. I personally went with a 10.4" screen and got it for $215. Its the Shark screen that is listed in the LCD section on this forum. As for staying under a grand, its definitely possible. My complete install cost right at a grand and I bought everything brand new. Just check out newegg.com and a few other places and compare prices. Your power supply is really going to depend on the voltages that your other components require. You need to read the FAQ on them to find out how to go about getting the right one.

Why? Other than fitment of components, what does the make/model of vehicle matter at all?
    A PC is a PC.
    An amp is an amp.
An LCD touchscreen is an LCD touchscreen.
    A subwoofer is a subwoofer.
The choice of components and software would be the same regardless of vehicle, save for speakers, I'd think.

As was stated previously, you really need to start at the FAQs. They should answer most of your basic questions.
Anything that's not answered can likely be answered on the forums. Use the search function liberally, bu be prepared to wade through a lot of caca in the process.n IF you can persevere through some of the garbage, you'll learn a lot, I promise.

That said, the Tacomas have a double-DIN opening for the stereo. A 7" screen fits in there darn near perfectly. A company called Bybyte makes mounting brackets for Lilliput brand screens for double-DIN openings that may be of interest to you.
Granted, I ONLY have an Xtra Cab, so this is probably going to be ignored by you, but whatever.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

darque my fellow taco man. What's up. Few questions. What screen do u like the most. I ordered a bezel for moddin so I think I'm going to go for the 8.4 screen if it will fit. How hard would it be to integrate the ac controls into the puter. I have a completely electrical ac unit and access to Mitchell documents.

    Gas prices.

Personally, I favor the Xenarc models. They don't require regulated power, meaning you can wire them directly to the car's electrical system to have them come on with the vehicle's ignition. It makes for simpler wiring.
It used to be that Xenarcs were the better quality screen, but I think that Liliput (the other major brand) has pretty much caught up as far as quality.

It wouldn't be easy, but it would be possible.
You'd basically have to use a control device like the Fusion Brain to trigger all the various vents (floorboards, dashboard, defroster, etc.), going from A/C to heat and mixing vent & warm air to regulate temperature, blower speed, and so on.

It's not even something I've contemplated, but others have. I suggest doing some reading on the forums here, specifically about the Fusion Brain and you can learn from others' experiences.
