Question about WinCE based HU and Emergency Lights

Hi first time posting on the site but I have been reading awhile looking around for the set up I want. So here goes........
I want to replace my factory radio in my 2009 Mazda 3 sedan with this one or one like it w/ USB plug adapter

    http://www.autodvdgps.com/index.php?...roducts_id=348

and am wondering if this touch screen emergency light/siren switchbox adapter will work?

    http://www.fedsig.com/products/docs/..._Screen%20.pdf

It seems like it will? I would be driving along listening to CD/radio, get fire call, hit MENU button, go to USB option & Fed. Sign. touchscreen switches should be there. Or am I missing something? I have tried setting up "real" carputer designs before but always came back to the truth that VT gets DAMN cold in the winter & I may not have time to boot a system or have to reboot after an error, this would have NO boot/hibernate time and would allow me to retain my steering wheel audio controls which would be a plus. Please guide me as I am LOST just tring to find the easiest, least costly & reliable touch screen set up for my emergency lights Thank you in advance

This is not a proposed vehicle computer setup, so why is it in this forum?

And you're going to get more answers on a dedicated Mazda forum or contact the manufacturer of the SmartSiren software.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

you could not be more right. This really has nothing to do w/ the carputer setup area. Except that you guys are going to know more about touch screen applications & computer programs & there compatibility than anyone else (not an empty prop you guys use this stuff more than anyone else) I could have put this on a number of car stereo or dedicated mazda sites (I plan to) but they are not going to have the same level of skill as the average person here on what I am asking. I just don't know if what I want to do, if those 2 units are compatible? I knew when I posted I was alittle misguided but was looking for guidance from the members here. Thank you.

A few problems with your logic behind asking here:

1 - That unit is a closed WinCE-based headunit. That means it is not set up to be tweaked or modified by the end-user.
Unless you find someone on these forums who has worked with this unit or actually has one, you're not likely to get a lot of information about what will or will not work with it.

2 - You're asking about a piece of software for use with specific systems. Wouldn't you think that the developers of that software would be the best place to go for information about their system and what will or will not work with it?

3 - You're posting here in hopes that someone in the membership has not only used this SmartSiren software, but also knows enough about it to tell you about the compatibility with the WinCE-based headunit you want. Furthermore, you also hope that those members will actually see your thread and respond to it with the information you want, probably in the timeframe you would like as well.
That's a very tall order, and not very likely to be fulfilled.

It's a numbers game, plain and simple.

Again, I think you are better off contacting the company that develops SmartSiren and ask them if their software will work with the headunit you linked to.
They wrote it. They are the experts. They will be able to tell you definitively.
You're not going to get random, anonymous forum users making guesses or a long wait time for that one person who actually does know your answer.

Personally, I don't believe that SmartSiren will work on that headunit because of what I pointed out in #1 above. That headunit is a closed WinCE-based system. The data sheet that you linked to even specifies that you need Win98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP to use the software. WinCE is none of those.
However, I am also not the expert. Federal Signal's software developers are the experts, and they will be able to tell you definitively.

    Good luck.
