    how to power lilliput

    Hey guys.
    so i got everything i need to install the comp.

    i'm just not sure how to power the screen.

    i got a lilliput 701, and my power supply is an m2 atx.

    i was thinking of hooking up the screen to the cigarette plug.

    Is that a good place, or should i plug it into the m2 atx?

    If i should plug it into the PSU, how do i do it?

    You wire it to the yellow & black wires of a hard drive power connector.
    Ywllow = 12v
    Black = Ground
    Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

    What Darque said..... but if you do so, remember to still have it fused and I would keep the regulator egg on it just for extra precaution.

    Why would you keep the regulator on it if its wired to a HDD connector? That's regulated power, so the egg is pointless.
    Now, if you wire it straight to the vehicle's electrical system, you certainly need the egg in place.

    Most regulators need an excess of power to function properly...
    If you use a 7812, 12V regulator, for example, it needs at least 13.5V to work properly.
    If you use a 12V vreg and feed it just 12V, you might be asking for problems...

    OH wait a minute..... that is correct... It should always be 1 volt over. The OPUS 15W works that way also... to get 12V regulated power, the instructions say to have 13V coming in....... I forgot all about that. My bad, thanx for correcting me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have the 701 and there is no linear voltage regulator on the inside of the egg, so I dont think the "excess power" applies. I think it is just there to smooth out the voltage because inside the egg, all there is, is an inductor and capacitor.

    You could be right...most cig lighter adapters also use a similar setup...
