PC line out noise? andd amps

    Hey ppl,

So i wired up my system today for the first time. Anyway all is working fine except i am getting some crackling noise from the computer line out (headphone/speaker socket) and you can hear it in the speakers when the music is either off or turned down.

However, when i plug my mp3 playing straight into my amp (in place of the computer) i get no noise at all.

IS this a case for a usb sound card?

MY other issue is that my system draws 33mA when the ignition is off, i've found this is due to my k500 monitor which i believe it uses to keep the clock time etc stored. Is this an ok amount? or am i just going to drain my battery!

    thanks!

Is your mp3 running off batteries? If it is, then you might have a ground loop problem. Buy a ground loop isolator, that should fix it.

I would rewire the monitor to an acc line. That way it wont draw any power when the ignition is off.

    amps problem solved!

anyway back to this, my mp3 was running from batteries, anddd another test i did was to plug my head phones directly to the pcs output. This produced a similar result to the amp! so i am sure the noise is cause by the pc.

Everything in my system is grouded to the same place.

How tight is your 3.5mm plug in the audio output of the pc? If that wiggles, it will crack. You could also recheck all of your wire connections. Maybe on is loose.

Sounds like some sort of interference. What is powering the PC?
