The box with the heat sink on it is almost certainly the amplifier and probably also contains the radio. It looks like the radio/CD part is simply a display and input for the amp/radio circuit.
It still may be difficult to control the amp with external controls. Since that is all custom circuitry, it may be expecting to 'see' the display and buttons before it will work properly. Communication between the display and the radio could be more sophisticated than simply clicking a button. It might be encoding byte strings between the display and the amplifier board.
The usual way to tap in is to find a way to connect to the CD player output. Often, that is an analog output and in many cases, you can access the CD player but substitute the PC output instead. Look around for adaptors that allow you to do this, they are fairly common.
The alternative, of course, is to substitute either an amp or HU with aux in for the stock radio.
