Bells and Alarms
I am installing a computer in my 2004 Chevy Avalanche. All of the alarms and bells that ring for the truck, ie: door open, buckle seatbelt etc. are all sounded through the speakers of the truck. When I remove the head unit to make way for the touchscreen, how can I ensure that all of the sounds are still routed through the speakers?
Any ideas?

Are you sure the sounds are just routed through the head unit and not generated by it?

If you remove the head unit you will lose your warning chimes. You need to purchase a special wiring harness for Class 2 data systems (I think that's what they call it). Using that harness, you can replace your radio and still keep your chimes. a quick search o eBay yeild this:

I don't know how much they are ending for, but I got mine for about $40 a couple years ago (different brand though).
