If space is an issue, build a custom case for it. As far as power, you could use an inverter. Most people don't recommend that. The best idea, imo, is to use an intelligent psu. You can research and purchase them here. Much better for a carputer.
I am new to this whole thing, and have been doing a lot of research to figure it all out.
I was given a Compaq Presario SR1950NX tower, (SPECS), and was trying to get this to be my carputer.
1. Should I try to put it in a smaller case, and if so any examples?
2. Power issues still confuse me, what shall I do about a power supply?
I am pretty knowledgeable about computers, but not the carputers. It is for a 2000 Chevy s10. I basically just want to have it hooked to my sound system which I know how to do, and I am getting a 10" touch screen monitor.
Thanks for any help/suggestions!

I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous - everyone hasn't met me yet .
Ok, on average how many watts is necessary. I no it depends on what I plan on using it for, but probably won't have a whole lot installed with it. I was looking in the classifieds for DC-DC power supplies, and that is probably where I am going to get one from.
Thanks for the advice, I will probably just end up using that Compaq case it is in now.
I would say a minimum of 160 watts. Bigger would be better.

Ok, I was lookin at ones around 200 watts and just wanted to make sure that would work.
The higher the watts, the less the psu has to work to keep up with power demands. So buy the best you can afford.
