here is a screen with a background on. i found the image online from a webdesign blog http://garcya.us/blog/vector-speakers/. i have no affiliation with them but i liked the image and i am using it for illustration purposes only.

you should also look into site launcher when you make the browser. much cleaner and touch friendly than favorites or bookmarks.
also, i'd look into using wii sounds in it.
funny thing happened while i was searching online for tech news and this pops up and it is like someone stole my idea lol. this is a intel mid concept that was introduced sometime ago.
it has an interface almost exactly like what i envisioned.

i had never seen that photo before but it has the main theme i was thinking of as in different colored tabs corresponding to individual functions, i was thinking more for mine to be glasslike and glow depending on which tab was selected.
that hand too looks so much like mine and the watch is huge like mine, a friend of mine saw the photo and thought it was my hand. lol.
I like your skin better than that Intel project anyway.
Very very nice work!
pen and paper always worked better for me too-- thats what a scanner is for..
I really like how this fe is coming together, I think that the tabs idea, and the info bar along the top might be one of the better uses of screen real-estate--large buttons are nice, but they make some of the other elements smaller or remove them all togather.
I am not sure if green is the best color for the info bar-- i think that it should be higher contrast--either black or white, so that it is easier to see while driving. IMO, lighter colors will get lost in the green.
Maybe instead of having permenantly fixed tabs and the icon on the bottom of the screen(both using space), you use the icon to bring up the tabs. ie: lets say you were listening to music--the music icon is on the bottom of the screen, and once pressed, the tabs appear off to the side to allow you to go to a different option. It would take a lot of programming to get to that point, and, being that I can't program, i can't say weather it would work, but it would be nice..
I've modified the flash Coverflow to look more like the XBOX360 NXE interface and it works well in riderunner for sending commands. I'm at work right now, but I'll post what i have tonight. I'm not great with photoshop so i dont have the best images on it or anything, but it works well.
It is only one line also, I couldn't figure out how to make it multi-lined, but each 'album' opened up a new riderunner screen and i figured i could just use multiple flash files, dirty coding, but the easiest solution.
aww great trying to work some more on this interface and my computer gets messed up. gonna take a week for meto get it back from HP. i guess this is going to wait. am loving the input from everyone though.
@roflcopter i really would love to see what you came up with.
@soundman i had that same idea but i dumped cos it will require one more step just to do something. my whole idea was to have as much controls and interface directly on the screen with as few steps as possible but also striking a balance at making the interface not look crowded.
