    DSP Interface and IBUS Connector

Hey guys. I am new to the forum and am a little hessitent to post but have no choice as I've been at this for many many hours and can't come up with the answers that I need. So here goes.

I have a 02 E39 BMW M5 with the 16:9 factory navigation screen and DSP audio. I would like to keep the current screen in my car. (I do understand that this is not the optimum choice) I have a couple of questions:

1: Is the DSP interface what is needed for the music to play from the carpc through the factory audio?
2: How is the DSP interface connected?
3: Is the IBUS connector the only thing needed to control the carpc through the factory radio?
4: How is the IBUS connected? USB?
5: I read somewhere about the resolution problem when using the factory head unit but was not clear on the explanation. Would someone please explain to me what is needed to convert to the proper resolution?

I appologize in advance about the dumb questions. I know that some people would rather post on a forum then actually do the research on their own, but I assure you that I have explored every possible avenue before posting.

    Thank you for your time.

    Whohooo.. Nice car

    1. Depends... CarPC have options on up to 7.1 sound, while you'r headunit only allow 2.0 on aux in.

    3. IBUS is connected either with USB or COM to the PC, to the car, it's 1 to the IBUS wire, 1 to perm 12v, 1 to ground, and 1 optional for rear view signal "on/off". Note: the device can be connected where ever in the care there's a IBUS signal.

    4. As above.. USB or COM port.

    5. In short... a new and better screen!

Thanks for the reply. I've started to think about a screen. My only problem is the fact that there is still no decent radio out there for the carpc. I'm also not too impressed about how the screens look in the car with the bezels that are out there now.

The IBUS sound pretty straight forward from what you explained. (THANKS!)

I guess if I could find a solution for the touchscreen bezel and the radio part of it, I wouldn't mind getting a new screen. But having a good radio also is important to me.

I'm going to search for a decent bezel and then see where it takes me from there.

    Thanks again.

Crinos, that setup is awsome, I don't think that I have (actually I KNOW I dont have skills like that or that even come close to that). But basically, thats what I'm looking for.

az1324, I went on the website site but don't understand what it actually is they are advertising. Also, are they selling anything or is it just examples of stuff?
