well I found what I was looking for but, its IDE to USB but that's ok right? I just have to find a slot loading IDE DVD-rom
I found the part I was looking for it says its an IDE - USB adapter. Whats that mean for drive selection?
got my touch screen today, DOA!!!
the touch screen part works but the monitor doesn't
according to your link, and assuming the picture is correct, that is deffinatly a ATAPI-usb adapter, so your options are open to any slimline(atapi connector) laptop drive you want...
that one is really cool! i wish i had come across that before ending up with my atapi-ide-usb setup...and for only $9....
I really like the idea of using that adapter instead of my current setup, and thnk taht there could be alot of other people that could use it also, so i made a thread in the store suggestions area(Jeils, you get the credit for finding it though..)
cool cool maybe we could setup a group buy?
my monitor is a XDX-P0701D
NAME : In-dash 7" TFT AV Touch Screen Car PC VGA LCD Monitor
I got it off ebay for $150 the guys real cool and is ok with me sending it back and refunding me, my next choice is the VMI70 because its motorized, has a clock(which I hope still works when the unit is closed). and it tilts side to side
EDIT: well I just bought my IDE to USB adapter, when it gets here I'll let you know how well it works.
I love this Head unit idea but my major hurdle is making a face plate that looks stock
here is the face of the Head unit I gutted
I plan on using the original hole for the disc, I'd Like to use the little window but I don't know what for, or how to hook a display up behind it
Im going to cut the rest out leaving the border so it will still clip onto the rest. I figure I'd fiberglass the face plate of the media reader and some button off an old computer case into it so I have the power reset buttons any tips would be great
should I post this in the fabrication area?`
i would personally mold copy the plate and then do the modifications on fresh peace of plastic =)
the display you bough was cheap one, 40% are broken only V2 firmware seams to be stable, old oncce have issues with VGA procesing chip
thanx what about the one I am planning on buying? The VMI70.
