    Smile My first CarPC

    Hey!

I am looking forward to building a car pc. I am somewhat familiar with building computers, but since I have no experience with car pc's, I have come to this forum.

This is the list I have put together. Can you tell me if everything is compatible, and if I am missing anything?

    Case: VoomPC-2 Enclosure
    Power supply: M2-ATX-HV 160W Intelligent DC-DC PSU 4-Pin P4 - Molex Power Cable
Motherboard: Intel BLKD945GCLF2D Mini-ITX Motherboard with Integrated Atom™ Processor
    Memory: G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory Model F2-5300CL5S
Hard drive: Seagate Momentus 7200.3 ST9160411AS 160GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive

Right now I am not worried about a monitor and keyboard and wires. Just want to make sure this is a good list for the machine

    Thanks

Do yourself a favor and get a better PSU than the M3.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I don't think that power supply will fit anyways. Are the VoomPC closures able to fit an M3? It looks like the screw holes were meant to mount an M2, maybe even an M1.

From the link for the VoomPC enclosure:
"This car PC / vehicle PC enclosure is specifically designed to work with the M1-ATX or M2-ATX car PC automotive power supply series, sold separately, scroll below for more information."

I saw a guy on here with a VoomPC-2 enclosure and with an Intell 230 Board, but he had to hack out a hole on top to fit the fan or somthing, I'm not sure. But will that board fit the case?

Anyways, good luck! But you might want to reconsider the case if you want to keep the current specs.

I also agree, I've read some not-so-good review on the M3.

The M3 simply fills the ATX connector on the motherboard:

It would be hard for it NOT to fit in the Voom case.

    List is updated

Oh, one more question; The fans on the case, how do they get power? Do they connect to the PSU via 4-pin molex?

Ok, I'll look into solid state drives.

And why 1gb ram? Because it uses less power?

And can someone answer my VoomPC-2 fan question
