    Carputer not working

I brought a carputer off of Ebay a few months ago. Finally months later I decided to power it up to get it installed into my truck.I have power from the M2-ATX-HV power supply, and I checked the connections and I have 12 volts to the motherboard and hard drive. The problem is the thing wont boot up at all.The hard drive wont even start.I connected it to a monitor and there is nothing on the screen at all.Do I have a bad motherboard and hard drive?I find it hard to believe that both are bad.Any help would be appreciated.

I'd suggest you try swapping out parts for parts you know work. You could first try the power supply by pulling the power supply from your desktop. If that doesn't change anything move onto the next part. A bad hard drive shouldn't cause it to not boot at all. Do the fans (if there are any) start up? Does it beep at all?

Do you mean disconnect my carputer power supply and connect my desktop pc power supply to the mother board? Now that I think about it, I did try that with a spare desktop power supply as a last resort, and the light on the mother board did come on,but I still didn't hear my hard drive, and I didn't try it with my monitor connected because I wasn't sure if I would fry something by directly using my desktop power supply. Also the fans on the power supply do actually come on and appear to turn on and shut off as they should.I have a buddy of mine checking it out for me to see if he can find out something that I couldn't.He knows a little more than I do about checking circuits and all,but I'll take any advice that I can get.

common troubleshooting for no boot/no post are to make sure you have the 4pin 12V connector connected (if your proc. requires it). Then, as suggested, start swapping out parts with known working parts. I'd start with RAM, power supply, graphics card, processor, mobo, and hard drive.

I had no boot/no post/no beep but fans were running. After doing the above, I found I had a bad mobo.

Disconnect everything but 1 stick of RAM and the PSU from the mobo. Then take a scewdriver and short out the power btn header. If you get no beeps or lights, or fans spinning, then you might need to connect a speaker to see whats up.

Yup - it just sounds like a power issue to me, although if you're not even getting a POST screen or anything, it could also be that the video card's shot.
