Car help please!!

Hi I'm new to site, I don't have any experiance with relays so I searched and searched and finally ran across this site. Now I'm doing a custom engine swap and it has some realys
(2 of them) that need to be hooked up, to actually start it. They give the diagram on how to hook it up but no numbers( 30,85,86,87,87a) can somebody please help me it would be greatly appreciated!! I only need info on the boxed portion. sorry it wouldn't let me put the box any other color than gray!! but I did put black boxes around the gray also so everything can be seen thanks for you help in advance! Ok........ So i gather from what you stated above that you dont know what pin is what on the relay? Is that correct?

Could you give me the details of the relays? I.e. no if pins on the relay (4 or 5)

Do you have or know someone with a multimeter/ voltmeter?

on a relay, you want to:
connect pin 86 to a constant 12V source if the signal is a ground OR connect it to the signal wire if positive (only going to need about 200mA or whatever the signal outputs)
Connect pin 85 to the signal wire (if negative) OR connect it to a constant ground if the signal wire is positive (only going to need about 200mA or whatever the signal outputs)
Connect pin 30 to your battery (fused)
Connect pin 87 and 87a to what you need to power
use 87a if your switch turns whatever you're powering off
use 87 if your switch turns whatever you're powering on
(87a IS NOT powered when the switch signal is sent and 87 IS powered when the switch signal is sent)

I'm gonna guess that on an ignition coil relay, you'll want something bigger than just a standard automotive relay. Ignition coils have a lot of juice flowing thru them.

It sounds like you have never really done anything like this before. My advice would be to find a friend or family member that DOES have experience with ignition coils and engine swaps and etc, etc, etc, rather than a CarPC forum.

agreed. Or at least an engine swap forum. a quick google search for "engine swap forum" should point you in the right direction

I totally agree, but this was the only site that I found after alot searching, but I finally did manage to get everything hooked up and started. thanks for the input to all that help and thanks mp3car for the site!!!

Good to hear...

I must say... I don't envy you if it where in a 300ZX you did the engine swap... the engine bay is tight, and awefull to work in.... no space!
