The hDZ300 has RCA out for audio, Antenna in/out to connect to your existing car antenna, 12v power in and a remote display which shows channel info and unit control. If your head unit has aux audio input, run the HDZ300 to that, wire it up to the radio harness and tuck it away. When you want to listen to HD, switch the head unit to aux audio, and use the remote display to control. You might have to use a RCA to 3.5 stereo adapter if you head unit only has that kind of aux input. If you don't have an aux input, you're pretty much out of luck and will need to find an alternative to your existing head unit.

Not entirely true. The HDZ300 has a build-in FM modulator and can transmit to the FM receiver on your head unit through the antenna cable connection.

As per the manual (page 22).

Not the best solution but it should work if that's all you have available.

I have to smile at the thought of buying an HD radio and then using an FM modulator to fire it back through the standard FM radio. Then again, the world is full of people that pay for leather interiors and then buy seat covers...so they can save the seats for the next owner I suppose. Yes that will work, but the end result won't sound any better than standard FM radio. You will get the extra channels, and in some cases possibly less static, but you will lose the added bandwidth and fidelity of the digital signal. Like the gentleman said, if that's all you have, go for it.

I was thinking the same thing regarding the loss of bandwidth by transmitting using the fm modulator since the 03 camry does not have a built in aux port.


There seems to be some discussions of being able to convert the open CD changer port to an aux port.
