While it is possible to use it as a computer screen in this way, it isn't recommended as the low image quality of rca video can make text hard to read. Also, the touchscreen can't be used with the computer as there isn't a way to connect them.

If you already know this but want to do it anyway, then just try it, but you might find yourself better off getting a VGA screen with USB touch.

There isn't really a standard setup, because it depends on what you want, and car pc's are often built up over time, and this could be a good temporary starting point setup until you know what you want.

i'd recommend that you use a vga screen with usb like he said, but you'll need to install a amplifier for your speakers if you get rid of the eclipse.
you might find a double din pre-built lcd with amplifier that will just bolt in, or you can modify and install a lilliput yourself and install a door speaker amp under the seat.

your car pc will replace everything the eclipse does, so you can always sell that on ebay to get a little money back for the screen and amp.
you'll only need to get a usb GPS reciever to have the nav feature that you'll loose when you get rid of the eclipse.

but you can still use an adapter to go from vga or svideo to rca to plug into the eclipse for initial testing and setup, to see if you want to go the car pc route. you'll have to use a mouse and keyboard though. and the quality will be poor (text will be hard to read etc)

Thanks. I just received my rca to s-video converter. I am going to test it out over the holiday. So I can't use the touchscreen 2 din to control my comp? Thats lame.

I have cf running with igo on my pc. I need some help configuring it. I have searched but still am unsuccessful. First, I have cf running and its taking up the full screen on my laptop which is 18" but when IGO is running its only taking up 800x430, will this change on the smaller 6.5" screen or just get smaller?

Secondly, everytime I open IGO through CF and touch outside the screen to pause on CF, IGO disappears and than when I reopen it on CF, it opens IGO a second time. How do I configure IGO to work correctly with CF?

No, you can't, at least not without reverse-engineering the touchscreen in the Eclipse unit and adapting it to PC use.

But those are the choices you made when purchasing hardware. Deal with it.

I didn't purchase any hardware, it came with the car. I am trying to deal with it by making the best with what I got. What I got is a sick *** Audi s4 which dominates your LAME Tacoma. Thanks for the help.

See, there is where you're wrong.
You did purchase that Eclipse unit as a package deal with your Audi.

I'm certain that you weren't considering the PC-in-the-ride thing at the time, so had no idea about the pros & cons of such a unit for PC use at that point and time.

Sure, you got me beat with top speed, acceleration and even ride comfort. But you can't make squat for beer money helping people move with an Audi.
