7" worthless? It's the standard.
A 7" is pretty much drop-in on a 2001 Blazer, with a new double-DIN dash bezel, which you can get from eBay from s10warehouse.
I'm ordering my touchscreen tomorrow to start my first carputer build and have been debating between the Lilliput 7" EBY701 and the 8" 889GL. I plan to mostly use it for music selection and playback, with the occasional movie but maybe more once I get into car PC's more.
I'm not concerned about the price as much as the extra work required to get the 8" screen to fit my 2001 Blazer. I'll need to move A/C controlls and do a custom dash bezel, but if 7" screens are worthless on a car PC then I'll certainly invest the effort!

if its mostly for music, just get the 7", it will save u heaps of time(well for me, its been plannin on how to jam mine in, lol)
wat music software are u plannin on usin? im gonna use iTunes since i have my 14 playlists all organized and what not(lol)
7" are not worthless they are actually more standard for the carPC crowd. With that said though I really liked my 8". It shorted out due to stupidity on my part and finding a nice 8" 16:9 replacement has been a pain in the rear end.
7" is great because they fit into a standard double din much better. I dont think you'll gain much with a 8"
I went with the 7" screen and it looks like it will work fine. I'm having trouble locating a new style double-din dash bezel but I'll just keep checking s10warehouse on ebay.
As for software I'm really not sure yet because I'm not completely set on hardware. I'd like to run a mac mini if I can, the ice3 software seems decent.
