What's up guys, my name is Dakota, I'm from Rock Springs, Wyoming, but attending the University of Wyoming in Laramie. I found this site a couple days ago, signed up, and have been :lurklurklurk: ever since. I've been researching carputers for a while, trying to figure out what setup I want to do in my truck. I probably won't start on it until mid-spring (have to finish setting up my sound system first, and gather funds) so I will be lurking and maybe posting a little, and trying to get as knowledgeable about this as possible. I've always wanted to do it, but never had the money or courage :gulp: to do it. So, it should be pretty cool. I'm looking forward to meeting some very helpful (and patient) people on here!
Welcome to the carpc world! Yeah it's a big step to finally purchase whatever setup you choose, at least if you buy it all at once. It definitely takes planning beforehand, but it's definitely a fun hobby, especially when you can show it off to your friends when it's done.
absolutely. it just seems like the next logical step in my truck. i'm running a massive sound system on 16v, and have been working on it for a while now. I think that taking out my center console and building one into the dash is going to be pretty sick
you are probably doing it the best way-- research as much as possible before buying anything, this is where a lot of people, including myself, get caught-- just buying stuff that 'looks' like it will work will almost guarantee that you will be considering a 2nd revision by the time everything from your first install is up and running.

Welcome, can you give more details? What exactly do you want the Car PC to do for you in the end? Also what type of truck is it?
