    Car PC Configuration

Hi everybody how are you ?

I have been watching MP3Car for quite sometime but i just yesterday decided on building my own CarPC and so here i am seeking assistance.
Computers are my job so its not like i am new to the field, still i have never tried any touchscreen monitors made for CarPC's and i don't know what is required to build one.

For example i was thinking on getting this :

Adding 4GB memory, a 500GB HDD capable of carrying all my MP3s, wifi/bluetooth dongles and that is that. The thing is i dont know what happens with the PSU, can i use a normal one or do i need something else ? Same applies for the LCD screen and the PC Case, which are the best ? Please help me people cause i really know nothing of these.

PS : I was also thinking of getting this but i aint so sure if thats a good idea.

    Thanks in advance

The best place to start is here:
    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/advfaq.php

for power supply, you can use either a inverter and a normal power supply, or a dc-dc power supply that usually includes a startup/shutdown controller that would trun the pc on/off with the car.

For cases, I have heard some good things about mo-co-so cases, but anything you got can work. My install is on a small sheet of plexiglass..

For lcd's, from what I have read, stay away from flipout single din screens and try to fita fixxed double din screen. I use a lilliput 629, but lilliput and zenarc both have touch screen models that work great.

Also your might get a little flak for the 4 gb of ram- usually 1-2 is enough for most systems...

I will go with 4GB since i kinda get them for free.

As for the enclosure i'm happy to know that i dont really have to get something special, just the smallest one available.

Which Dc to DC power supply is known to be the best or at least amongst the best ? Any insights ?

Finally my car is an Opel GT ( Sky Redline ) so 2Din screen is infact my only option.
Now as to which screen to get i am still looking, lilliput does seem like a good option however.

IMO, opus, or dsatx are the better brands, but just as many people have good luck with miniboxes m- series power supplies

the mp3car store offers a double din mouting kit, i believe it works with both the 629 lilli and the 701.

i use the 629 with the double din adapter, and it works good-- my biggest complaint being that the adpater is slightly more square than a double din opening(slightly taller, narrower)
