    motherboard help

hi all, im very new here but in need of some help and info. i bought a carpc off an auction site. never really used it much but seems the board died or has a major power issue. when opened it looks old and throwen together, so want to build a new system myself with removable parts if there are any problems in future.

budget could be an issue, but i have alot of the stuff for this pc. touch screen, hhd, cd rom, usb hub, etc, etc that i can use

so what motherboards would people reconmend? ive done a lot searching on here. seems so many out there, im lost. what would be good and what to avoid? id like something that runs off an m2atx. I'd like to run gps, wifi, and onscreen gauges. obd dianostics, etc maybe. good enough to run dvds, plus i do lots of car shows with my car. maybe something that i can leave playing away when boot open and not kill 2nd battery (optima yellow top) in mins

i do hope people can point me in right direction and the above not to much of an ask? thanks

Yowch, yeah that post was kinda painful to read. Proper punctuation and capitalisation is a necessity to make your posts understandable.

That being said, look into the Atom 330 series boards. They're cheap (As low as $80), super low power and dual core. They can easily run on a M2 and handle a wide range of USB devices.

    What they said.

There is no board that is so horrendous that no one should touch it, and there is no board that is so great that it should be the only option...

Try to find something with enough power for what you want to do and go from there(the atom 330's will handle most normal carputing duties).

japtorque, thanks for using some punctuation in your last reply.

When at meets and things, I'll leave my CarPC running for 15 or 20 minutes, but will start my car every now and again to make sure I don't go flat. Depending on the extras you will have in your car, you may not even be able to do that before your battery is dead.

Best advice I could give? Try it and find out.
