    Double-Din display is inverted

    Hello,

My buddy and I purchased two generic double-din stereo/gps units. His is working perfectly, but upon set-up the following happened to mine.

While looking at all the functions everything was displaying and operating good, for about twenty minutes, until I plugged in my iPod Classic, 80g. After a few minutes of use the screen inverted what it was displaying. It does it in each function (radio/navigation/DVD (even plays movies upside down)/etc. What should be in the upper left displays in the lower left...upper right displays lower right. Simply 'flipped' over.

The unit can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/yzfpdlr

    Display Picture One here: http://tinyurl.com/ykr7ysy

    Display Picture Two here: http://tinyurl.com/yln7fb7

We have searched many message boards and used Customer Service. These are the things we have tried but have yet to work:

    Unplugged unit for 24 hours.
Used the 'reset' button (many times).
    Removed SD card(s).
    Re-Calibrated (explained further below)
Unplugged unit and grounded positive and negative wires to drain electricity
Connected iPod again and navigated the menu
Checked and re-checked all wiring (including buying a new adapter)

We know the front end (navigation and dvd) use Wince 5.0 and the backend (everything else) is a Chinese operating system. We can get to the explorer screen for Wince (downloaded an update from Chinavasion on the SD card) but because it is in Chinese and inverted it's very difficult to navigate, and doesn't do much good.

When re-calibrating the display: By touching on the cross hair (where it displays on the screen) the functions are activated by touching where it should be displayed. When calibrating and touching the opposite side of the screen (if it appears in the lower left touching upper left), the functions are activated by touching the actual icon even though it's being displayed inverted.

Any and all suggestions are fully appreciated and I hope someone has had this issue before.
    Thank you.

if customer service, and multiple resets can't fix it, i would rma it for a new unit.

That happened to mine as well. It ended up being one of the cables that attaches the controller to the LCD was loose. All I did was reset each wire ribbon and the problem went away.

Thanks, but RMA (which I already have a number for) is just too costly and time consuming when compared to buying another unit.

When you say 'reset' each wire ribbon, do you mean simply ensuring they have a good connection?

Dude that totally worked. Thanks! There are three ribbon cables on this model behind the screen. One main from the inside of the deck to the board behind the screen, one from the side controls to the board behind the screen, then one that goes from the board (behind the screen) to the actual screen. They are tiny and the connections are different from what I've seen, but we figured it out. Turned out to be the ribbon from the board to the screen, which was the most difficult to get back into place. Put some extra tape on it just in case. Everything works great now. Thanks again!
