I have been an avid fan of MP3Car for the past two years and have thus spent countless hours trolling its pages wonder if I could build my own car PC. Well I finally took the plunge and started to collect the necessary hardware for phase I(PC Build). Just last friday I assembled the PC. The PC consistes of a Zotac Ion ITX D board with 2 GB of Wintec AMPX ram and a WD Scorpio 120 gig laptop hard drive. I put this all into a morex 5677 case that came with a home power supply. I plan to swap the PS with a M2ATX once it is ready for the car install. As I have never built a PC before I invited a friend over to help me do the initial build. After approx 40 minutes the build was complete. The computer booted with no problem.

This week I plan on buy a digistor external DVD combo drive and install Win 7 (Phase II).

I also have on order a Pinnacle PC HDTV USB tuner and an Elm Scan 5 OBD II USB reader.

I need to buy a monitor but I have yet to decide where to mount it. I have a 2005 Legay and would like to mount it in between the AC vents. Not sure how difficult the fab would be though. any suggestions are welcome.

I may add a new head unit as I dont like the fix for my stock HU that has no AUX input. Does anyone know of a headunit with a screen that could also act as my monitor? I have yet to find one.

I have also started to puchase all of my cables. The PC will be secure in the trunk so this will make running the cables difficult at best. I am thinking about grounding straight to the battery but see mixed reactions to this. Can some advise if this is ok?

I am looking for a critique of my setup as well advice. Both are welcome.
