    Pics of the Car PC

Hey guys, I've finally got the pics up for the car, just to show you where everything is, etc:

I've reeled up all the cables and hung them from the roof of the boot.

Dodgy pic of the amplifier, its only a small cheapo amp, just needed to test my hardware, connections before getting anything expensive

Wifi Link, I've hidden behind the back seat

HDMI cable, that connects to the Lilliput screen so I can theoretically run a game console or HD camera, etc into the screen; I've got a HD handycam with HDMI, so this cable comes in handy.

Full view of the touchscreen, had to dremel tool the thing into the dash; so its a bit loose since I don't want to make it a permanent fixture, in case there's some problems with it, I can easily remove and fix anything behind the scenes.

Griffin PowerMate USB knob, I use it for volume control, really handy.

Full view of everything, including my iPod charging cable.

The antennas in the back, threaded to the top. TV cable, USB running the WiFi Link

    Top view of the antennas.

Actual CarPC in the boot, running power cables from the front. I've put the pc on a mat, so it doesn't shift when I drive.

I covered the PC with the boot carpet, so it can't be seen. It's kept in place, by using bulldog clips, clipped to the cables from the top.

looking at your pics i see your gps reciever is in the back window with rear window defogging cables in the glass which is most likely causing your bad gps reception may also clean up other units signals. just a thought SNO

Thanks snow, yeah i've thought about the interference, but I don't really have anywhere else to put it with a good clear line of sight to the sky. If I run it to the front with a long usb cable, the length means that my signal is still low....

I once mounted a GPS in that location, it took half an hour to get two sats...basically didn't work. I relocated to the front, outside, in between the windshield wipers, and run a 5m cable to it, night and day difference. Very fast.

If you want to mount in there, you'll may try a steel plate, around 8" diameter around your gps puck to see if it helps, I believe. But the problem really seems to be the glass.

hmm thanks for the reply, it might be an idea to try that out. I've tried running it to the front, but the usb cable was the cheapest I could find, so I'm guessing it didn't have enough power to run anything on the other end... Do you think the GPS would work in the boot?

This cable worked for me, Cables unlimited 16ft extension, connected directly to the motherboard. Inside the boot, I don't think the GPS would work.
