I know this is probably a dumb question but that's why I'm posting it here.
My OPUS 360W PSU comes with a wire that I can use for devices that require regular power so I want to use it for my touchscreen and Mitch's Sirius adapter. Can I then use the ground from my wiring harness from the stock radio to ground these devices or should I still ground directly to the body of the truck?
Mitch's adapter is 12V @ 1A
Touchscreen is 12V @ 0.75A
for mitches adapter, i think it would be best to keep that on regulated power.
for the screen-- i can go back and forth-- my install, i have my screen connected to the old radio power-- there is no ground in the harness, so it is grounded to the nearest bolt..
i seen it said more then once that you should also have your screen on regulated power to get rid of power fluctuations-- everyonce in a while my screen does have lines roll through-- i don't feel like fixing it, so it stays taht way..
I was going to use regulated power on both regardless because I have a power supply that allows me to. I was just wondering if I can use the ground on the radio harness. I'd rather use it because it's close. The closest bolt I can find is quite a ways away.
I'd like to install my PC this weekend. Can anyone tell me if this is a good idea or not?
i read that that might cause a ground loop...so what when i installed I ran the ground back to the opus wasn't much more trouble wire is cheap enough
