well i also posted this in the M2 ATX forums, but:
    J6 Amp on/off
So getting close to having everything done, but i just thought i'd check this..
to use this feature, i just need to connect the amp acc socket to the positive pin on J6 right? I don't need to do anything with the GND pin?
Oh.. and J3 i connect to an ACC line somewhere right? that's just a thin wire to give it the signal to start up/shut down?
    Cheers
also, the acc line i've found in the boot loses power when i crank the engine, is that an issue at all?
So if i have this right, i put keys in and start the car, but the ACC line will get power (start PC startup cycle), but will lose power while cranking, then receive power again when car is running...
M2ATX will compensate for this no worries?

you definitely don't need the ground on the j6 connection. though, i always recommend trying to just power the amp normally, and only use the j6 jumper if you actually have issues..

i don't beleive that the power loss while cranking should be a issue-- my dsatx handles it fine, though i believe the m2 has a little less power filtering..

    ok then wish me luck

with the J6 header, i'd probably prefer to use it as it actually simplifies things for me: to find and tap into ACC points..etc
need one for the PC, one for AMP.. this makes it easier i think? And it won't matter if the amp comes on a little later as the PC takes 35 seconds to boot anyway.

    Thanks for your input !

    Good luck
I know that feeling, I wired up my fuse block and what not and it worked. Then someone commented on how they wouldn't be game to do it as they would screw up and I lost all confidence
Luckily weeks later my car still hasn't caught on fire or blown a fuse

Well.. so far so good.. no fires lol
Pc boots and runs and i have sound..
Need to finish installing software etc.. i did install the software for the LCD but in the car it said installing drivers.. then failed.. so will try to install them again and see what happens..
And drivers for the radio module as well..
Just need to check if i have sound out of all speakers, and then fiddle with the gains etc..

BUT the PC doesn't boot in ACC only when i get to ON, dunno whats up there, and it probably doesn't matter too much..
Now i just have to tidy things up, and put the car back together properly..

Well i was wrong about the PC not booting when in ACC.. i forgot about the 5sec delay and was obviously too impatient

So everything seems ok so far, BUT when the car is on i don't get any reception, when the car is off i do... (i think)
So i gather my stock antenna is maybe going through some sort of filter or something? need to bypass that or get another antenna?
    Cheers

it's the interference from the power supply-- there is a very long thread about this in the power supply section, and a expensive fix for it..

Well, strange.. i'm getting reception now.. (finding 36 stations)
But not getting any output from the radio through to the speakers.. probably just something i need to tick or select etc..
About to try the stand alone app and see how that goes...

needed to tick 'listen to this device' in line in properties
Also, it's only a matter of about 20cm in the carport for reception and no reception lol..
but i do seem to be getting some line noise, like the hdd is introducing noise as it spins etc.. will have to play with things and see if i can stop that..
SO.. all done and working.. now to tidy up and put the car back together etc..
Will do a work log soon..
