If you ditched the car head unit, then I bet the antenna amplifier is not getting powered up. Most OEM antennas now use antenna amps, and almost all in glass antennas have them. I would guess that yours is not getting power, and so your reception is not good.

Search Google for this sort of Information.

As good as MP3Car is for info, sometimes car specific websites are better for certain info.

Well it's definitely the antenna, i connected a piece of wire and if i hold it up about a foot above the car, i get perfect reception.
But if i run it through the car, it's very patchy, i guess i'll have to try a DAB antenna and hope it works ok.

Ok, i'm not entirely happy with this setup. It works, but there isn't a great deal of bass. Currently just have the AMP set to 2 channel input(splits to 5 channel in amp) from the stereo output from onboard soundcard.
So, i'm thinking a USB sound card might give me more control and enable me to get things closer to how i want them.
Would something like this be the go? Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 - http://au.store.creative.com/sound-b...1/1-17751.aspx
Then i can have the radio module going into the line in and have the front/rear/sub going to the 5 channel amp i have.(then set to 5 channel input)
I then disable onboard audio too...
    Does this sound correct?
    If not.. please correct me

    Cheers

    Edit:
OR.. do i just set onboard audio to 4.1 mode and use something like http://asia.creative.com/products/pr...1&listby=usage to capture the radio line in?

i really hate the x-fi.... it has a turnon pop, and the drivers are a little flaky...

yeah i did read a few posts from you in that regard
but i'm not sure there's many other options either.. at least i haven't found anything yet..

Unless i get a low profile PCI soundcard.. It should fit..hopefully

scratch that... it won't go into the case..
sigh... just have to hunt around for a suitable USB one.. i remember someone here having a twin usb soundcard setup, but haven't found it again yet to check what they used..

Nope. They are a poor bandaid to attempt to fix power issues you don't have.
