Could be bad memory, hard drive or other hardware.

    Try here.

Lot's of mentions of needing XP SP2 if you have a PCI express card installed at all.

Check out memtest86+ and give that a run. I've seen just about anything cause this issue from ram to cpu to drive controller. Good luck and hope you figure it out.

    Thread moved to newbie section.

Switch to a desktop PSU and see if that cures it?

Also, another thought... try an XP disc with SP3 slipstreamed, SP2, SP1, and gold. Start from newest and work your way back, sometimes this lets me get the install on, then I can upgrade service packs afterward.

Even if you're not using PCI-Express cards, the board still has PCI express devices on it. For example, the onboard graphics could be a pci-express graphics card which is built into the motherboard. Even if there isn't a single device built-in that uses pci-express, the pci-express controller still exists and will need a driver.

Also, it may be worth trying a known working cd drive.

Also, are you installing to the SSD or to the real hard drive?
I think I read somewhere that certain motherboards have issues with SSDs.

Does it crash with a real xp installation?
