I feel a bit cheeky asking this instead of doing the research myself, but would you know how I could query (from the com port) the RDS station name, for example?

Its different for V5 and V7. With V5 you just send a "get display" command and whatver string the module spit out you just display it on the screen and thats it, it may spit out the FM frequency or the station name. You have no control on how it format the display, like I said it would even scroll the radio text for you. Each time you send a get display command, the text is shifted so it would appear scrolling if you send that command every seconds.

For example if you send the get display command 6 times, the module will output the text >

    This is Classic FM
    his is Classic FM
    is is Classic FM
    s is Classic FM
    is Classic FM
    is Classic FM

All the text is formatted for a 2x16 display, they do look ugly on a PC screen. As for the V7 on master, I dont have one to test but I dont think it is much more different to the V5. According to one of the member here, the commands are indentical except for a few.

Cheers mate! Apart from the scrolling RDS data it looks quite interesting indeed. I might just order one
