Planning on Dell Inspiron Zino HD Car PC

Hey whats up? Im new to the website and the forums, DUH! lol. right now im currently deployed in Kuwait. I've been here since August of last year and i've been so bored lately that i've been looking for ideas to deck out of 2005 Dodge Ram Hemi and i got the idea of a car pc from Steve Meade from his videos on youtube. if you guys dont know who steve meade is, look him up on youtube and see what he has done to his '01 Tahoe. Its very nice. Ok so on to my question finally. I just purchased a Dell Inspiron Zino HD computer.

    SPECS:

    Product Features
1.6GHz AMD Athlon 2650e processor with 512KB cache
    4GB DDR2 SDRAM
    750GB, 7200 RPM hard drive; 8x DVD+/-RW
Integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics; HDMI output
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit) operating system
    Processor, Memory, and Motherboard

    Processor: 1.6 hertz AMD Athlon
    RAM: 4 GB
    Memory Slots: 2
    Hard Drive

    Size: 750 GB
    Speed: 7200 rpm
    Ports and Connectivity

    USB Ports: 4
    Cases and Expandability

Size (LWH): 9.1 inches, 11.8 inches, 19 inches

I got a really good deal on it and i want to use it with a Lilliput 10.4" touch screen monitor with HDMI input since the computer has HDMI output. I want to know what power supply i need to power my computer in my truck. I have been looking around this website and came up with a couple of them such as the M2-ATX and similar products and the M2-ATX says that it plugs into the ATX power supply on the mobo. I have been looking everywhere online and in these forums and i cant find a straight answer. I would like to have everything at home by the time i get back in August. Im pretty good with automotive wiring but not computer stuff. Also, for those of you that are wondering why im using the 10.4" monitor or wondering how im going to get the sound to my amps. I want to take my Pioneer Avic N4 with navigation and put it in my 05 Durango and im going to use a 3.5" to RCA cable to my MTX ReQ5 to send signals to my Kicker ZX650.4 4 channel amp and my Kicker ZX1000.1 mono amp. Let me know what you guys think about this setup. I just thought about it this afternoon and i dont know if its going to work but its worth a try.

Hey whats up again. I started this thread with the expectation that someone might have an answer for me but yet no one answered my question about the power supply so i had been emailing back and forth with mp3car.com store techs and they recommended the Carnetix CNX-P1900 to use as my power supply. Its a good product. I have been looking into it and i should have no problem using it with my car pc and screen. Now all i have to do is think of a way to design a new dash bezel for the oversized monitor but ill just have to wait until i get home to do that.

Well...I'm very new to this, but if you wanted to try and go a cheaper route I'd say this looks nice.

They you can have the laptop enter Hibernation once it kicks onto battery after a minute or so. You'd have to manually turn it back on, but there may be software to help with that???

    Just a thought..... good luck!

Hey Justin325, thanks for the suggestion. it does sound like a very simple setup but since im planning on having a touch screen monitor in my dash, it just makes sense to use the carnetix p1900 unit because the monitor runs off 12volts also and the unit controls it so it turns it on and off and it also keeps the steady flow of current instead of fluctuating so the desktop wont mess up or anything like that. Its more expensive but sometimes you gotta spend alittle. Im still deployed and im still looking into everything but so far thats the way im going to run everything.
