Hi guys
First thread so go easy on me.
I recently purchased a double din DVD player etc to fit into my VW T5, all went well accept when fully installed, the screen is barely readable due to the height of the unit in the dash and the angle at which it sits.
Having pondered this issue for the whole of my bank holiday weekend, and reading through loads of threads on here. I am now thinking of completely forgetting the headunit and going for carpc with screen mounted in the dash.
Having read up on modifying the dash for three days, i am now a little confused as to where the start. Basically, i completely understand the different methods of glueing/ fixing different types of plastics. May main query at the moment is how do you identify which plastic is which. I have no idea what material my T5 dash is made from nor the Lillput screen i intend purchasing.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks s

not really-- i prefer name brands like asus, gigabyte, and intel, but really don't have any specific likes/dislikes within those brands--just whatever fits the build.

Alpine CDE-9850Ri HU -- why?
If you're doing a CarPC then there's no need for this..
was sort of thinking this would be the amp, set up in the back somewhere, so could also use it to control volume listen to radio etc whilst fishing camping whatever.
Got me thinking now, this not good idea then??
it is perfectly fine-- many run the carpc into the hu so that they can have radio/cd even if the carpc isn't on, or isn't working, or in your case, a simple solution for volume control+amp... it's kinda like having 2 ipods-- a little excessive, but sometimes is what you need to fit your requirements..

Build is coming along, components arriving, dash mod taking forever.
I think i got most of the wiring sorted just bit of head scratching with the Asus atom 330 at3iont and the M2-ATX. I ve plugged the 2 pin connector to the M2 J8 motherboard on/off switch, but on the MB all i can find is a system panel connector (10-1 pin F_PANEL). Do i connect to just the PWR BTN gnd and pwr? and forget the other pins.
Hi
I ve drawn up a rough wiring diagram for my T5 below, hoping someone here can take a look, let me know your thoughts.
Thanks S
