Cool Lamborghini fresh re-birth need a Project leader

Hi, building a car well re-building a 1973 Lamborghini P250 Urraco to 1012 build with new body styling, new power plant to today's HP and performance now we need to bring all electronics to today standards. We are using an Audi motor and transmission. Only using Audi ABS - Motor CPU and trans CPU.

Here is what I need / want a total car system from key-less entry to heads up display electronic gauge control, tire pressure monitoring, radar - laser detector integration. sound - entertainment system, phone voice, internet, voice control, AC - heater control you know the whole nine yards..

I have a 2011 Jag except for the heads up display it has what I want in the Lambo. However, using a jag dash - electronics would still have Jag all over.. How can you help?

Car is being built now by Alan Lee, in Torrance California www.alanleedesigns.com

Car body work being designed by Frank Killiam (BMW design works USA) http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a59...P420%20Urraco/

So what do I need and who do you recommend do the design and integration with Alan Lee?

well, nearly 100 views, and no responses..

i really don't see much talk of many people offering services like that for others--many asking, but few, if any, seem to respond.

good luck with the build though!

dude, all i can say is that you may want to start with just a CarPC system and all those things can be "integrated" to the system with add-ons. It will take a bit of work and time to get all those systems installed but with time anything is possible...

well the problem I see with what your asking is several,

first is that modern cars will almost all have many key components in complicated systems such as these communicate with each other on a can buss, in the end forming a fully closed complicated on board neural network of components that all play well & work well with each other, forming a whole system that stems from many sub systems. for example if you decided to use lets say a Mercedes systems... the key less ignition & the instrument cluster along with many of the other key components communicate with each other in the same loop as the several SAM modules & many different computers, there all linked & trying to extract just a part of this on board neural network & graft it into a completely foreign system is as difficult as trying to transplant the heart of a donkey into the body of a mountain lion, chances of compatibly are almost non existent.

what this means is, lets say you go out & buy a complete wrecked cl600 for example, & pull everything & I mean EVERYTHING from it, complete harnesses head to tail & all components & transplant it into another body in it's entirety... in a case like that you could very well wind up being able to get the twin turbo v12 to run fine & to have all systems work as intended in the new body, keyless/ body control/ suspension control/ traction & stabilty, they all work together.... but once you start trying to just use just part of these systems in conjunction with something from a totally different manufactures sub systems all bets are off.

at that point you would need to study, analyze & fully understand each part of communication in both sub systems AND be able to engineer modules that would in essence become translators, you would need to be able to engineer emulators to fool certain parts of systems to think there seeing whatever it is they may need to see even if it's no longer there & you will need to backwards engineer many components & communications data that is just not even released from the manufacturer in the first place to protect there own intellectual property. in a day & age where a company like Hyundai would love nothing more that to be able to "copy" systems designs for it's X from lets say nissan's Y, you can see why it's in nissans bet interest to keep certain inside info secure & not share certain data. there will be a lot of key info needed that will be unobtainable in any way other than reverse engineering... in short it would prove to be extremely difficult at best, & more like impossible in most peoples reality to be able to really pull something like that off.

in short most of the systems you are looking to integrate are tightly woven in communications with the systems your already talking about using from the Audi, best hope for compatabilty is to look at using everything else from a compatible Audi

second problem I see here is, wouldn't a world class builder already know all of this? that website built for this project really hypes up this allen lee guy to the point that I don't see how someone like that could possibly need to just fish for vague input on such key construction & design data from some online forum, that just makes no sense to me... be like bill gates coming here & putting up a thread asking for advice on how he should mange his finances, I mean: huh? wtf? hate to say it but if you guys truely need to fish this obscurely for such basic design criteria in a build such as your proposing, then you're not exactly off to a good start

ok, I'm editing this because in re-reading what you wrote I think I may have misunderstood. I originally thought you were looking to integrate these whole systems from another car, now I'm thinking you may be more looking to build this whole complicated integrated control network on your own? man, now I don't know whats harder, the first idea I had or the second

man, to build everything your talking about into a complete system that works consistently & reliably is going to also be a huge undertaking & a whole lot of R&D, whole lot... there are literally hundreds of ways to perform each aspect & then there are just as many different ways to integrate each, to do it well, like I say, huge R&D, good luck with it & didn't mean to be so harsh towards the builder, still find it strange someone like that would even have to ask....

You should try a carPC running Centrafuse (centrafuse.com)+Parrot for BT Phone; for most of what you want (AC heater, Internet, Entertainment, OBDII, Relay controls), plus a very good 3rd party alarm system with all the bells and whistles. Incredibly as it may seem, that route would cause you less headaches, at least compared to your alternative. Then you should use a totally independent system for the main gauges, for reliability, if you're using Audi elsewhere, you may stick to Audi for that.

Yeah its not easy undertaking at all. Allan is doing the mechanicals now and body I am just fishing for what "I" want in the car. My 2011 Jag as 90% of what I want but like you said it would be a head to tail graft of all the electronics from a crashed car. Then putting in the HUD and internet on top.. But you end up with all Jag graphics and zero flexibility.

The idea of one system at a time is not bad, agreed the gauges should be stand alone. However its really cool in my Jag the Nav takes over the gauge screen when a turn is coming up.. Not a fan of the voice command function in the car its a little lame yet but its cool .

i get the impression that he is more of a metal fabricator, as i really didn't see much on the site relating to electronics..

and that looks like it is a different project-- that will be using a ferrari motor.

Couple of things to help clear the thread..
    A) My name is Karlton I own the Lambo
    B) Alan Lee is quite versed in the build
    C) Total budget for the build is140K we have enough built in the budget for R&D
My point for coming on this forum was to see if I could find more talent and ideas for this project or a qualified carpc expert to help work - design - build out the main components. Because is is like no other Urraco.

BTW: Here is the history so you get an idea how special this car is to me.. I first re-built this car when I was 16 bought at auction for 6K it was a minor motor fire. (electronic ignition box blew) sold the car to pay for school. My dad let me use some school funds to build it it was a great project for a high school kid. It was green when it was new and kept it green for the rebuild. The guy who bought it painted it RED..

My dad passed away a few months back and I had to pay all his final expenses and was playing on eBay after the service. Thought of the URRACO he let me build, low and behold searched for URRACO and a 73 Urraco burned in a motor fire that started out green repainted red was for sale.. Buy it now button got a quick press. noting the car I had first rebuilt was sold to a guy in Long Beach Ca. This one was in Torrance the next city over what are the odds?

So lets keep the thread positive and know I am putting a car together with my 16 year old son with Alan Lee as the master builder. Hope this helps get the thread back on track

    Smooth Sailing,
    Karlton Spindle

oh man, I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about the same car that's being talked about in that link man, the car that's supposed to be this guys life time achievement, a world class build sorry man, my response was based on assuming you meant for that car. I now realize you mean for a different car that you own & that guy just happens to be working on it too

a carpc can give you a lot of what your looking for maybe in the right hands, but it sure as heck isn't going to be at any kind of world class level. don't expect it to be just like your experiencing in your brand new jag, not a chance. it will be a project that will take a long time of tinkering & then a life time of tinkering past that, if your looking for a hobby then a carpc might be the answer but if your looking for something that's going to just install & then function like factory then going back to using factory bits & custom integration would still be the way I'd consider to do it if it was my task to do. in reality what you want is a really lofty goal...

Here is what I need / want a total car system from key-less entry to heads up display look into a wrecked corvette its what im doing for my gtm build electronic gauge control aslo part of the corvette with some aftermarket availability(dakota digital and others), tire pressure monitoring right here from mp3car , radar - laser detector integration best on the market currently is made by passport. sound - entertainment system, phone voice, internet, voice control again mostly available from mp3car some can be found other places, AC - heater control you should check out dakota digital/ vintage air for this one they have a wonderful set up with full digital climate control but if your looking for something more"lambo specific" check out kitcentral there is a gentle man on there that builds replica controlers that work w the vintage air that look and feel as if you pulled them from a salvaged 2000+ lambo you know the whole nine yards honestly i dont know but if you post a list of all of what your looking for if i dont know the answer i know where i can point you to find it..

I have a 2011 Jag except for the heads up display it has what I want in the Lambo. However, using a jag dash - electronics would still have Jag all over if you want to stay away from jag branding then use something else, there are plenty of other salvaged dash sets out there that look similuar and can be"faced"(have an overlay placed on the face to hide the oem look).. How can you help?

if you want traction controll there is a company out there that offers it aftermarket with very litle modification to the vehical. its almost plug and play simple. again if you post a list of what you specificay want(as i only have a vague idea of what you want and dont want to overload you with links/info that you dont need or want) i will pull from my build what i know and gladly share the sources of the products (currently in the design phase of a FFR GTM) hope all this info helps if you have any questions let me know.. i dont get on here much but for the sake of helping some one else w a remake of a wonderful classic supercar ill be checking back at least daily
