What is the cheapest way to connect a switch so a computer via a USB port? I would like to use the button on the end of my indicator stalk (its the horn button on these funky British cars) to activate voice recognition.

I dont think there is a cheap way, per say. Most people use JoyCon EX, which can be added to most OEM car buttons with modding. I use a device made by Mitch, which works with the Sony Commander stalk. One cheap way could be to buy a USB keypad, take it apart, add wires from a button on the keypad and make the voice recognition a hot key to what ever button you assign.

The problem is that I only need to input one button, or if I need more they wont be on the stalks. I am looking to simply connect a button(s) to my computer via USB, I have heard about something called an iPac that dose almost exactly what I want to do. I'm gonna look into it and see what I can find out about it

Both the joycon and the fusionbrain I think should do what you want..
Put either wherever you like and you can run multiple buttons, just extend the wires as required.
There isn't really much point just doing one button via usb as you will still need a logic board and once you have one it is guarenteed you will want more inputs.
The fusion brain or joycon give you multiple options for both buttons and other coolness!

Well, I found the I-Pac site (link) but the store wont load , if I can find a price on the I-Pac that would help make the decision between it and the Joycon. The FusionBrain is just over kill for what I need at this point.

God im so forgetful sometimes. I actually use the Mini-Pac in my install. In fact I use 6 of them. I use them for my KVMP switches so each user can change from computer to computer. They are way smaller then the I-Pac, which is just too big for my taste. The Mini-Pac does the same thing, but smaller. It also remembers all its programming, even after power loss. The Mini-Pac ran me $29.00 dollars each.

Yep, the store page works this morning, the Mini-Pac seems to be the cheapest solution for what I want. Only problem now is I want to build a arcade machine.

LOL, thats one of the features of mine. Remember though, my setup was strictly built for crazy multimedia.

I plan on running some pretty heavy media through my system, but not on several separate stations.

The gaming is only on the dual zone setup. The multi zone only does basic stuff, like video, music, internet, etc. Gaming would tax the multi zone PC to much.
