Lightbulb 2003 Infiniti G35 CarPC and Sounds System Install Questions - Hardware

    Hey everyone,

I have been reading this forum for a few months now and finally decided that the carPC would be the best bet for my new sound system. I have selected (mostly) all the hardware for the install but I have a few things I still need to clarify.

    1) I opted for the M4 250W power supply but will it fit in the case I selected? If it is to large, which is what i'm thinking what are my options (separate case)?
    2) What is the best option for integrating the AM/FM from the car into the computer?
    3) Other than basic wires, is there anything I am forgetting off the top of your heads?

Thanks so much for all the help. And I will make sure to document the install =D I included my parts list below.

    Cheers, Geoff

    Welcome to MP3car!
I do not run am/fm & use a laptop so I will leave your first to questions for others. My suggestion is to run a 4 or 8 guage fused power wire directly from the battery into the pass. comp. and connect it to a fused distro block. That way, as you decide to add "more" the power is already there in ample quantity.

that psu won't fit in that case-- it's just too wide. i believe the m2 should work for that hardware.

as far as the capacitor-- not needed. if you have dimming issues, then that means you need to do some work on the power side of the system-- like the big-3 upgrade, different alternators, etc.

Running over the specs though for the system. It requires at least 200W especially for the quad core processor. Would an external case be an option? Is there one made for the M4? You don't think the drain of the first amp and the second amp at 1000WRMS would be an issue? I have a great alternator and a brand new yellow top but I don't want a strain on anything I have aftermarket gauges and a tuned ecm plus other electronics not listed. For $100 though it wouldn't really hurt :-D

Just confirmed, the cpu wastes over 160W of power. Still nothing on am/fm for cars haha :S
