    Noob audio question

I'm having some issues with the audio from my carputer. I get a lot of what I call clicking on in my speakers. Its like tiny bursts of white noise in my speakers.

    This is my setup:

    Onboard (Realtek) Audio --> Headphone Y-Cable --> (2x) 3.5mm to rca --> Kenwood 4ch Amp ---> 16 Gauge Speaker Wire --> Factory speaker harness ---> Speakers

My first thought is the Problem is from audio out to the amp. I think I used to cheap of a cable and its causing cruddy playback.

Can someone confirm my thoughts or point me in the right direction.

Also, any recommendations on replacement cables?

Could possibly be cheap cabling, but I would check your grounds. Also, what are you using to power the pc? And, are you running power wires next to any of the RCA's or speaker wires?

do you have a ipod or anything to connect to the amps to check whether it is a carpc or car audio issue?

romycha1, I dont think its a grounding issue. I ran a dedicated ground wire to my battery for my PC and Amp. My PC is using a dc-dc Psu.... I think its the m3-atx. And the power cables are fairly close to the rca cables as everything is mounted on a equipment shelf in the trunk. Thats why I'm thinking I have to cheap a cable with poor shielding.

Soundman, Always nice to hear from you, Ive got my laptop, but thats about it. Well... now I think of it, ive got a galaxy tab floating around somewhere I could dig up.

Thing is, my car goes in to the the shop today for some minor repairs so It will be a few days for my repairs and before I can get it checked.

I believe it's an issue from windows, I had the same thing last year. I believe it was something with my configuration and XP because switching to W8 solved it. If you want to verify your audio setup, unplug the connector from the sound card and plug it into an Ipod, phone etc and play some tunes. Thatw ill narrow down PC or Audio setup.

You could also try turning of your wifi if installed, see if it goes away, I experienced some interference similar to yours before I shielded my cables.

    Time for the update:

Alright so I got my car back Friday. And took a little time Friday and Saturday to look threw everything here are my findings so far:

    • Audio "clipping" noise was caused by an issue in DashCam Plugin for Centrafuse. (My biggest annoyance) Resolved.
    • HD radio (Line in) is causing some of the background static, although this disappears when music is played.
    • Low/No quality audio cables are causing some issues, as some of my speakers now loose connection at times (when the wires wiggle).
    • Speaker white noise not noticed when using laptop as sound output. (See HD radio above)
    • Did not think to test is pre boot noises occurred on laptop.
