Thread: Help pls! After new carputer install , ACC/iginition fuse blows when starting car.

what are you powering off your acc? the best way is to have your amp and comptuer with a hot wire to the batt, and the acc is just used to trigger the ps in the puter which then turns everything on. at least thats how i got mine. if your trying to power everything from the acc then that is a problem. maybe the computer if it is low power enough but definatly not the amp. i may be misunderstanding your description, if so my bad.

Yes you are. I may be bad at explaining. Anyhow from the battery I have a distribution block supplying power to amp in trunk and carputer under passenger seat. If I have faulty power wire will that cause a fuse to blow??? If I don't power the carputer my amp works fine.

I also ran a single Acc wire for dash to amp themo amp remote/Acc to carputer Acc/remote.

Same symptoms blown 15fuse when turning keys over.

I'm not powering anything off the ACC. Its simply to turn on the amp and computer. I guess I didn't explain well enough. Anyhow after troubleshooting. I ran 1 single remote/acc wire from the harness to the amp, taped of the amp to the carputer remote; when doing it this way the fust still blew as soon as I Started the car. Any ideas? Can fault wiring cause a fuse to blow? I would imagine so. I say this because the power wire thats going to my carputer wasn't long enough so it was split to extend and connect. 1 end had a terminal and the other exposed, I connected together and electric taped. I'm thinking since this cord is split because it was short there may be faulting wiring. At the same time if I disconnect all the wires from the carputer leaving them exposed, I Can turn the car on and the amp kicks on just fine. No fuse blown. Headache, ive done about 4-5hours tryna figure this out.

I can't say for sure i understand the problem but at this point, i would isolate the computer from the amp. Independent power, ground and acc.

It sounded like you feeding power to the amp and then bridging it to the computer. (i might have misunderstood tho)

Thanks for your prompt response. The issue ended up resided at the computer. The computers power supply was in the configuration of bench testing (inside) I wasn't aware of this because i personally didn't build the itx. I bought it from a college bro. Once we fixed that with everything in place nothing change.. It booted right up and its beautiful! i've been missing out. we have a close setup as I have a m3-atx and a Lilliput 669gl... Now just to tidy (wire management) all the wires up over this weekend, it'll look sweet!

Yes it is a beautiful thing! Now to just add more components, GPS, Bluetooth, maybe usb expander.
