Thread: Computer controlled lights

I am new here, so thanks to anyone who helps me out. I have been researching this for a while and am I little unsure how to proceed.

My ultimate goal is this:
Have a touchscreen mounted in my car with a custom GUI that I will design to control lights inside and outside the car

There are a few ways to do this that I am aware of.
1. Put a computer in the car, write an application that controls USB relays. (seems like overkill)
2. Put in a custom android device that runs a custom app that in turn controls an Arduino with relays attached (seems overly complicated)

I can't just use an Arduino because that is not powerful enough to support a large (above 5") touchscreen.
Has anon here used android to control some relays or have any other way of computerizing relays?
