Hi im new this whole scene but have been reading countless threads and im excited by the possibility of a tablet interface in my car. The car is a maserati 3200 and only has a single din as shown here

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how I can make this work? My initial thoughts are to move the hvac controls into the glove box? (from factory the fuel and trunk release buttons are already there)
any advice is appreciated :)

What about the buttons under the single din slot - what do those do? I think those would be easier to relocate than the AC controls, and there seems to be enough space to fab a double-din opening

I'm about to get a nexus 7 and am going to to draft a design for something to hold but allow removal. I put a massive 10 in screen, and for it to fit i had to move my climate controls down about a inch, and cut all my custom holes for screen and equalizer.
its a lot of work, but it can be done!!!!
With yours I think it would look better if you took took the climate controls out, but they are definately what you use more...
possible solutions:
1. Relocation, you would HATE the glove compartment bleh. You could replace them with smaller knobs and possibly put them next to your thighs int he center console. This is a tough option as there is not a lot of free room like i had.
2. If you have programing background you could jimmy rig your tablet to control yoru climate controls, a bit more involved.
3. Do without lol
You'll probably end up just plopping them hidden somwehrer, maybe the center console?
-But I'd avoid fiberglass, its so much missery. Instead get the fiberglass 2 part body filler.
-I've done a LOT of painting, and i recomend a vynil wrap, it comes out very clean, and a lot less room for error. see my white carbon fiber wrap...
-don't hard install your nexus, take advantage of the pogo connectors! audio and power just by dropping it down.

Unfortunately i already started fibreglassing before i read your post, having done some research and mock fitting i think i can leave the heater controls in place and relocate the hazard light buttons etc without too much work. I'd too like to make it removable...im thinking of making a fibreglass facia held on by a push to release kind of fastener ?
