Single DIN frame for touch screen

Greetings. Sort of a newbie. Been watching site for years, now ready to rock. Just got a 2000 GMC Sierra Extended Cab to haul the horses and it NEEDS carputer. First off trying to find a single DIN frame for a touch screen. Thanx

You're looking for a single DIN flip-up touchscreen? Not sure I understand what you're trying to do? Most touchscreens are about 6.5"-7" and fit in a double-DIN slot unless they are of the flip-up variety.

Sorry...to clarify-Truck has a single-din opening. Thinking about building carputer off a single-din frame that will accommodate a touchscreen. Feedback I have seen on the flip-up variety is generally not that good. Very open to other ideas.

Other choices to consider are Roof Console Flip Down, Gooseneck Stalk Mounted, or Dash Mounted monitors.

I have not seen any single DIN screens, other than the flip out or motorized type, but I am sure you could make one off stuff available on ebay if you have above average electronics skills.

If you have some fabbing skills, I would recommend buying a replacement dash panel (the one that holds the radio, air conditioning controls, and vent port), from a junkyard pull, then modify it to hold a 7" screen, and relocate the heater controls to fit. That way you will still have the original if you remove it later. All those controls can be relocated easily enough, and once you get the radio out you will find a lot more space than you thought you had.

I just looked up a video of your dash removal here:

It looks like a do-able project, look how much space the heater controls steal!

Nice vid..gotta love his technical communication skill thingies.
Yes..considering moving the heater/ac controls up top to roof console then using a full double din in dash mount.
Not interested in Roof Console Flip Down, Gooseneck Stalk Mounted, or Dash Mounted monitors.
Still looking for a single din frame to install pc components and a method to mount 7" monitor to that frame...something where most of the monitor would be above the heater/ac controls kind of like how a single din motorized monitor pops out, then up...that kind of position. Seems like there are no single din motorized monitors with VGA, DVI, or HDMI connection on the market right now

Is the Xenarc 700IDT 7" In-Dash LCD Touch Screen Monitor
( http://store.mp3car.com/Xenarc_700ID..._p/mon-017.htm ) the only such device currently on the market? Any current product feedback?
