Thread: how do u connect lcd screen to computer video card?

You could look online to find a vga to ntsc/pal converter. The ones from AITech are ok. The text isnt that bad either when using one. This will allow you to use your current video card (without tv out) and a LCD that has rca input.

well. Depending on the LCD you connect it to the video card in any number of ways. Mind telling us what kind of screen it is?

it sounds like you have a bare lcd board, and depending on the type of lcd you have there are basically 2 options.

if you have yourself a VGA lcd. then you are going to be limited to a (usually expensive) VGA controller board for the lcd. this basically takes the vga signal, a 15 pin signal, and converts it to signals that the lcd can understand (usually a 31 pin signal). the controller card will generally work with a large range of screens so long as you get one that will cover the resoution and color depth of the screen you are hooking up to.

if you have a composite screen, think of the yellow RCA connectors on the back of your TV. this type of connection generally requires a more home-made solution. you basically have to only provide a power source (voltage requirements will vary), a ground, and a video signal. these can be cheaply rigged up, but there is a great difference in quality between the VGA and composite screens.

oh, regardless of which kind of screen you have, you will have to backlight the screen... most screens will come with a backlight, and you will have to provide an inverter. some come with the inverter also, while others come with no back light what-so-ever. so, to help you more, please provide a brand and model of the screen you are trying to hook up. mind you, some screens are very common and they are easily hooked up, while others are a bit more difficult to locate information for.

Some of them can be powered using power off of the ps2 or keyboard port. I havent had a chance to play with it yet. (the 9000) I am actually thinking of not using it.
