    How important if VGA?

Well I plan on having a carputer but now I am questioning if I need it be be VGA and if it is VGA then I will go touchscreen, almost no diff. in price, unless you go bigger than 7". So then I guess my real question is how much a diff. is VGA touchsreen vs. LCD?

It depends on what you want to do. From what I know, if you want to use GPS (small letter for roads), get VGA. Otherwise, if you are just listening to mp3s and watching movies, you can get away with regular LCD.

well I want a compy, don't care about GPS want Mp3's that's the best part I change CD's like every 5 min or so, so a cmpy is a good way to go DVD's ar enice too then vid games so I'll get an emulator as well as a rearview camera screen because I will have a wall in my car. That's my application

First of all there is NO DIFERENCE between a LCD and a VGA.
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display
VGA stands for Video Graphics Array

An LCD is a type of display and VGA is a type of input or output.

I know what you are trying to compare, and I understand your post. But maybe others that do not understand these terms do not have a clue waht you are talking about.

Type of inputs from best to worst, for a COMPUTER APLICATION
VGA: best for higher resolutions, clearer smaller details
S Video: divides the video into four wires.
RCA: divides the video into two wires, a signal and a ground wire.
Composite: divides the video into a capacitive wire.

wow thanks yes that cleared up a lot of stuff! So in essence S Video has the twice the clarity of RCA? Well if that is so then I am looking for an LCD with an S Video input

I used to have a 7" LCD WS with low glare filter and TV tuner + 2 RCA input (from performance teknique). If I recall it has one composite in, one composite/SVID in and one compsite out. I got it for 400 bucks. You can get them cheaper now. That's what you need. If you need a front end, I recommand myhtpc or media engine for the clean interface. I am making mine but it's not done yet and it will not have DVD feature (unless there is enough demand for that).

LCD WS? Can you elaborate on the name? And yes the price should be down because for $400 I can talk to Armen for a VGA touch screen!
