I have a 91 Honda Accord lx and i wanted to put an mp3 player in my car. I already have a decent head unit and sound system. I was going to mount a 7" touchscreen in the dash, and a computer in the trunk.
Heres where i need help. The easiest place to mount the screen would be where the two slots are. However, they are really far down, and the people in the back wouldnt be able to see most of the screen because the shifter would be in the way. Where would you reccomend i mount the screen. I wanted an integrated look, but im open to suggestions as long as it looks clean. If i were to move it higher i would have to reroute the climate control.
Heres two pics of my dash, not the greatest pics in the world. As you can see, the shifter would block viewing from the backseat. It looks like it might get complicated trying to move the air control units, but i wouldn't know. I dont think scrapping the rearview mirror is an option.
i have a 93 accord (same interiror as your 91)
im planning on mounting the comp in the trunk
the lcd is what im not sure on
as you guy probably figured out the shifter really is in the way
i wanted an in dash lcd but even in the top din it doesnt have enough clearance to pull out
i was considering cutting down the shifter just an inch or so but i dont think i could do it myself since it has complicated stuff. not sure if any shop would do it either since they dont want to be held liable in the case that it ****s something up
Move the deck to the bottom DIN slot, and put the screen just above it? Given your car is auto, and the car will be in D when you're on the move, would that do the trick?

I was thinking again the other day, and I was wondering if you guys thought it would look ok to mount it inbetween the two airvents. If you look at the picture, there is a little red light which could easily come out (i put it there) and maybe i could get a bracket to come out of the slot and support the screen. If i were to do this do you think sunlight would cause too much of a problem? I have tinted windows if that means anything. Also, do you think it would be too easy to steal? Maybe there is a way i could make a quick disconnect...
