I have the screen from an old laptop, I would like to hook it up to my carputer.. is there anyway i can hook it up to a normal graphics card ??
If you know the term "carputer" then you've been lurking around this forum. If you've been lurking around this forum then you've been reading the posts. If you've been reading the posts, then you know that asking this type of questions will only get you a "do a search" response. If you take the advice then you would do a search. If you did a search then you would know the answer. If you know the answer then you wouldnt post a stupid question like this on your first post. If you didnt post a stupid question like this, that means you did a search and a pat on the back. So far you've failed to do everything.
man, that's good! can we use this as the standard response? (with the search icon of course!)Originally Posted by cproaudio

It can be done, but only with a very expensive controller board, custom made for that particular screen as they are all different. So to make a long story short, you cannot hook up a laptop screen to a pc.
Due to the fact that this is such a common question, maybe someone should sticky something to the top of this section about it.
Maybe we should just have a Frequently Asked Questions section.
The search function works just fine for me.
Must be a PEBKAC issue.

Yes, you should search... and Yes, It has been covered before!
Read the FAQ!
yourworstmemory: I got this post from "View New Posts" I thought he had some information to share about laptop LCD. As it turned out, just another noob asking the same question. This question's been asked at least once a month and has been answered at least once a month. If you feel you're up to answering this question over and over, be my guest.
wylie, Enforcer: sadly there is a FAQ on this but people fail to read it and gets all ****ed off when told to search. Its the button next to the search button. If he read the posts, he would know to search. I dont know about you but that FAQ button is hard to miss if you're looking at the search button.
Anyways SEARCH FOR YOUR GOD DAMN QUESTIONS
Cpro, you do have a good point there. Before I even registered to this forum I read just about every post in the hardware and lcd sections, Its too bad people just can't do there own research first before asking the common and simple questions.
See this is a perfect example of doing searches before asking questions. Even new members like wylie and yourworstmemory know the answer to that one. I mean how hard is it to click on the search button and type in "laptop LCD" I'm not implying that because they did a search and that's how they knew. The point is what ever you can think of, it's probably already been done or already been discussed. A simple search on the topic you want to know will get you far in this forum. If you cant find the answer, then post the question.
